1st International Fine Art Competition for Young Creators sponsored by the Centro Comercial La Maquinista, with a prize of 10,000 euros.

Within the framework of the event Barcelona-New York, Two Images of Modernity, Barcelona's Centro Comercial La Maquinista (La Maquinista Shopping Centre) is calling for applications to the International Art Competition for Young Creators with the aim of promoting contemporary art, favouring creating and opening new channels for young artists.

Creators from any discipline, nationality and country of residence between 18 and 40 years old, individually or as a collective, can participate. bARTcelona Maquinista 2010 will award two prizes of 5,000 euros each, in the following categories:

- Installation / action: time-based works which intervene in an area of La Maquinista or propose an unique experience to the visitor.
- Visual arts: painting, photography, video, sculpture, collage, mixed media.

The works should be on the subject of "Barcelona-New York, Two Images of Modernity." From the works entered into the competition, 20 will be selected for exhibition from the "Visual arts" category and 3 from the "Installation / action" category (which will count on 2,000 euros to cover production costs). The exhibition will take place at the Centro Comercial La Maquinist (La Maquinista Shopping Centre) from the 15th to the 30th of October 2010. The prizes will be announced on the 28th of October during the show's closing party.
