The Darling Foundry, located in Old Montreal (Quebec, Canada), is an alternative visual arts complex with an outstanding architectural design. The Darling Foundry provides opportunities for research, creation, production, and exhibition. Its multifaceted spaces, spanning 3500 m², provide room for residency studios, living accommodations, technical workshops, gallery spaces, a restaurant and offices.

The International Residency at the Darling Foundry is supported by the Canada Council for the Arts.The program supports foreign visual artists from outside of Canada. One residency of six months will be awarded. *The schedule of the residency is from the beginning of January 2011 to the end of June 2011*. The resident artist will receive a grant amount of $23,000 CDN which contributes towards travel, subsistence, and production costs. The resident artist will be provided with a studio measuring 100 m² and a separate living accommodation (for single occupancy), with access to common living spaces. In addition, the Darling Foundry provides the laureate with organizational and technical assistance, promotion and networking opportunities.

The resident artist will have the option to participate in open studio events, studio visits by arts professionals, and trips to artistic events. Applications are evaluated by a selection committee consisting of arts professionals. The committee base their selection on the artistic quality of the applicant's artistic work, the potential impact of the residency on the applicant's career, and the contribution to the Montreal and Canadian arts community.

La Fonderie Darling, située dans le Vieux-Montréal (Québec, Canada), est un complexe alternatif d'arts visuels à l'architecture exceptionnelle. Elle offre des occasions de recherche, de création, de production et d'exposition. Ses espaces multifonctionnels, totalisant une surface de 3500 m², comprennent des studios-résidences, des logements, des ateliers techniques, des galeries, un restaurant et des bureaux.

La résidence internationale à la Fonderie Darling est appuyé par le Conseil des Arts du Canada. Le programme soutient les artistes visuels étrangers, venant de l'extérieur du Canada. Une résidence de six mois sera accordée. La durée de la résidence est du *début janvier 2011 à la fin juin 2011*. L'artiste résident recevra une subvention de 23 000$ CDN, qui contribuera à ses frais de voyage et de subsistance ainsi qu'à ses coûts de production. L'artiste résident disposera d'un studio mesurant 100 m² et d'un logement séparé (à occupation simple), avec accès aux espaces résidentiels communs. La Fonderie Darling fournira en outre à l'artiste résident une assistance à son organisation, une assistance technique, ainsi que des occasions de promotion et de réseautage. Le lauréat aura l'option de participer à des événements portes ouvertes des studios, à des visites de studios par des professionnels des arts et à assister à des événements artistiques.

Les demandes sont évaluées par un comité de programmation formé de professionnels des arts. Le comité base son choix sur la qualité artistique du travail du candidat, l'impact potentiel de la résidence sur la carrière du candidat et la contribution qu'il est susceptible d'apporter à la communauté artistique montréalaise et canadienne.
